Club Road Race Championship Races 2009
Last updated: Monday, 12 October, 2009
The 2009 road race championship campaign is upon us once again and with it come some slight modifications to the proceedings. All in the interest of variety, of course! This year’s club championship series will comprise 13 races of which each competitor’s best 8 results will count towards their final club championship standing.
Counting as one of the 13 races will be the option for competitors to include one marathon event of their own choice. The points awarded to competitors will be based upon their comparative recorded times at the end of the club championship season – Monday, 19 October 2009. Competitors will be required to notify the Road Race Secretary in advance of their intention to compete in their chosen marathon event.
The rules determining the outcome in the event of a tie between competitors are as follows:
1) In the event of a tie between two or more competitors the overall standings will be determined by the points totals earned in direct competition between the athletes concerned.
2) If a race included in the club road race championships is cancelled and provided the cancellation no less than 6 weeks from the end of the road race season the road race secretary will endeavour to find a suitable and equivalent event to put forward to the club committee as a replacement.
3) The club committee’s decision on the selection of the replacement event will be final. All members will be notified of the replacement championship event as soon as possible following the decision of the committee.
Given that this year’s championship comprise 13 events of which 8 count there should be sufficient races to allow for the worst case scenario where a race is cancelled and is unable to be replaced.
A real success of last season’s club championships was the inclusion of the Mota–vation Series events. This year it has been decided to include a couple of the events rather than the whole series in an effort to ensure the club championship races cover a greater spread of distances.
So Harriers, prepare yourselves for competition and make a determined effort to relieve Paul Jégou, Sarah Baker and Simon Atkin of their hard–earned championship crowns.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Raod Race Secretary if you have any questions regarding the 2009 club championships.
Below is the list of the races that makes up our club road race championship for the 2009 season – not forgetting the option to include one marathon event of your own choice.
